Chuck's Midnight Run

Yonkers Democratic Candidates

Chuck with fellow petitioners, Jose Alvarado, Wilson Terrero and Ken Jenkins

In what has become an annual tradition, Chuck and his fellow candidates for office wasted no time in kicking off the 2009 petition season. At 12:01 am this past Tuesday, June 9th Chuck began collecting signatures at the Shoprite Supermarket on Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers.

Other candidates included Westchester County Legislators Ken Jenkins and Jose Alvarado, who are running for re-election in the 16th and 17th County Districts respectively, and Wilson Terrero and Ted Winnicki, Democratic Candidates for Yonkers’ 2nd and 6th Council Districts.

Each of the candidates is looking to receive more than one thousand signatures during the month-long designating petition drive, which begins Tuesday and runs through July 13th when designating petitions are filed with the Board of Elections.

“I look forward each year to making my midnight trip to Shoprite to begin our party’s annual petition drive, in order to gather and collect signatures for those candidates running for office,” Lesnick remarked. “There is no finer example of democracy in action than literally taking the ballot directly to the people.”

The event took place just a few days after Chuck celebrated his 50th birthday party with friends and family at The Park Hill Racquet Club. To see pictures of the event click here. It's not too hard to guess what birthday wish he made - the opportunity to serve Yonkers as City Council President for 4 more years!
